Dossier 04 · Calibrated Acoustic Source for Paging Mics

Bedrock TalkBox (BTB65 / BTB115) vs. ITU-T P.51 Artificial Mouth

Why firefighter paging microphones require a DSP-equalized artificial mouth with ±1 dB flatness.

Whenever a paging microphone is part of the voice alarm chain, IEC 60268-16 (Edition 5, p. 36) requires an acoustic test source with a maximum transducer diameter of 6.5 cm and a frequency response flat within ±1.0 dB from 125 Hz to 8 kHz.
